Multiple home pages in Firefox

November 22, 07 by Crossover
advertisment

This trick is a unusual one and I bet many out there don’t know this. Firefox actually features the possibility to set multiple home pages. I’m a big fan of many websites so I atleast need to check 3 most favorite each time I’m online. But be aware that this new feature introduces a performance degradation in Firefox startup as multiple pages are open.

Here is how to configure multiple home pages in Firefox?

  • Open Firefox
  • Click Tools || Options
  • In the Home Page section, located at the top of the Main tab specify your home pages URLs separated with a “|”
  • Click OK
  • Restart Firefox

Mozilla Labs - Prizm

Personal computing is currently in a state of transition. While traditionally users have interacted mostly with desktop applications, more and more of them are using web applications. But the latter often fit awkwardly into the document-centric interface of web browsers. And they are surrounded with controls-like back and forward buttons and a location bar-that have nothing to do with interacting with the application itself.
Mozilla Labs is launching a series of experiments to bridge the divide in the user experience between web applications and desktop apps and to explore new usability models as the line between traditional desktop and new web applications continues to blur.

Unlike Adobe AIR and Microsoft Silverlight, we’re not building a proprietary platform to replace the web. We think the web is a powerful and open platform for this sort of innovation, so our goal is to identify and facilitate the development of enhancements that bring the advantages of desktop apps to the web platform.

What’s New in Netscape Navigator 9?

The following features are new and unique to Netscape Navigator 9.

Visual Refresh
Netscape Navigator 9’s theme has been updated to save screen-space and leave more room for the websites you visit.
URL Correction
Navigator 9 will automatically correct common typos in URLs. For example, if you accidentally type googlecom, Navigator will fix it be to google.com. The browser will watch for nearly 30 different types of common mistakes and correct them for you (asking you to confirm, if you choose to enable confirmation).
Link Pad
The Link Pad is a new sidebar feature that allows you to save links/URLs that you want to visit later without cluttering your bookmarks. Just drag a link over the Link Pad status bar icon and drop it to save it in the Link Pad. By default, clicking on an item in the Link Pad will open it in the browser and remove it from the list, saving you the step of deleting it.

Mozilla Working on a Mobile Browser

October 12, 07 by ReniX

firefox

After successfully changing the game in desktop web browsing, Mozilla now has its sights set on the mobile market with a version of Firefox to appear for mobile phones as early as 2008.

Mozilla is taking mobile browsing seriously, and has already hired at least two high profile mobile developers for the project. Former Openwave browser chief Christian Sejersen has joined Mozilla to head up engineering and development of the browser, and France Telecom researcher Brad Lassey would also join the team.

September 14, 07 by ReniX

I am a minimalist at heart. This is probably why I don’t like overloading Firefox with extensions. There are however, 5 extensions that even I can’t live without. These are my favorite extensions and are currently the only extensions I have installed.
