I had been working with Photoshop for more than a year and through out this year, I designed works by using this great tool, really can’t live without it. In Photoshop, the layer blending had been the most frequently used in most designs. By applying layer styles, the design won’t be flat and it looks good. I used a variety of style combination to achieve the desired result. And here, I decided to save all the styles that I created for backup purposes, as well as share out here!

You can view all the 56 layer styles bigger at the picture below. Most of the styles involving black, gray, and orange, because these are the colors I used the most. I also included the styles that I used for creating the gaming window tutorial too. So feel free to download and play around with it!

When it comes to your website, extra attention should be paid to every minute detail to make sure it performs optimally to serve its purpose. Here are seven important rules of thumb to observe to make sure your website performs well.

1) Do not use splash pages

Splash pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website. They normally have a very beautiful image with words like “welcome” or “click here to enter”. In fact, they are just that — pretty vases with no real purpose. Do not let your visitors have a reason to click on the “back” button! Give them the value of your site up front without the splash page.

2) Do not use excessive banner advertisements

What is the “eezy” Trifecta? Three. Awesome. Resources. Bookmark gold for a most any designer. The sites are simple and it goes like this: Vecteezy.com is a free vector site, Brusheezy.com is a free Photoshop Brush site, and Fresheezy.com is a free Wordpress theme site. And these aren’t search engines or databases. All of the content has to be submitted by the owner, and is subject to “make the cut.” Only the good stuff makes it into the mix. You’ll see some of my vectors and Photoshop brushes as you snoop around.

* Google Sitemaps - This generator will create a sitemaps.org compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog. Helps Google index every article you write.
* Akismet - Checks your comments against the Akismet web serivce to see if they look like spam or not.
* Evermore - Abbreviate all posts when viewed on multiple post pages. Helpful to create expandable posts summaries in Wordpress. Combine with Less that Changes the (more…) link so it displays the entire post, not just the part after the “more”.
* Related Posts - Returns a list of the related entries based on active/passive keyword matches. Increase pageviews by providing targeted related content.
